The Seiko Prospex Sea SPB501J1 is a 1965 Heritage Diver's Watch PADI Special Edition, with SPECIAL EDITION marked on the case back. Its 40 mm stainless steel case and green dial house the automatic calibre 6R55, which offers a 72-hour power reserve, and the watch is water resistant to 300 m. Seiko developed this Prospex diver in partnership with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), the most widely recognised diver training body in the world. The design looks back to the 62MAS of 1965, Japan's and Seiko's first diver's watch, whose dependability took it on four Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition missions and later onto the wrists of explorers at both Poles and on Mount Everest. A green dial captures sunlight breaking through the ocean surface as a diver sees it from below. Alongside the short-pitch bracelet with micro-adjustable clasp comes a matching green strap made wholly from recycled fishing nets.
