Seiko's first Alpinist appeared in 1959, sold only in Japan and made for the Yama-otoko, the mountain men who needed a watch they could trust on dangerous ground. This model borrows its design language from that original, while its blue colour is drawn from the tranquil lakes hidden high among alpine peaks. Practicality remains the priority: an automatic 6R movement drives the watch, generous lumibrite on the dial and hands stays easy to read whatever the light, and water resistance of 200 metres adds to its outdoor credentials.
