Seiko named this Classic Series model 'Shiro-iro' after its white dial, the shade traditionally associated with natural silk. That fabric, prized in Japan since ancient times for clothing and interiors, also informs the gentle texture of the dial. A domed dial, its hands and indices gently curved, sits beneath dual-curved sapphire glass, a vintage-minded combination shaped to catch as much light as possible. The gold-coloured plated case stays at a modest 36mm, and the seven-piece bracelet borrows from 1970s metal designs, with links just 6mm long so it flexes easily on the wrist. Seiko's in-house 6R51 runs within -15/+25 seconds a day and stores three days of power.
