This model takes its name from a pressed dial pattern that recalls crystal, a nod to the first Astron of 1969, which Seiko launched as the world's first quartz-powered watch. The name also points to the box-shaped sapphire crystal used on several Seiko designs; raised slightly above the bezel, it resists scratches, reads clearly and adds a vintage geometric feel. For the first time in the Astron collection, the bezel is polygonal, giving the watch a bold, dynamic presence beside its highly visible indices. Inside, the in-house solar 3X62 uses GPS to correct the time automatically when the wearer crosses time zones.
