Inspired by the Apollo 8 flight, the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8, reference 310.92.44.50.01.001, is made in black ceramic with a 44.25 mm case and a black dial. Through that skeletonised dial you see the hand-wound OMEGA Calibre 3869, its bridges textured to resemble the lunar surface. Kamal Watch Co. is an authorised retailer of Omega watches.
Omega celebrates the Speedmaster's part in Apollo 8 by laser-ablating the blackened main plate and bridges to resemble the moon, with the near side visible through the anodised aluminium dial and the far side through the caseback. Compared with the earlier Calibre 1869, the 3869 shows greater lunar detail, along with light grey wheels and a balance wheel coated in dark grey gold. The chronograph seconds hand is varnished yellow, the bezel's laser-engraved tachymeter is filled with white enamel, and a Saturn V rocket in grade 5 titanium serves as the small seconds hand. The strap is perforated black rubber lined in yellow.
