The dial is inspired by sakura-kakushi, the spring moment in Japan's Tohoku region when late snow settles on cherry trees already in bloom; Grand Seiko renders it as a finely moulded, greyish pink surface that changes with the angle of the light. Tohoku includes Iwate Prefecture, home of Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where the mechanical movements are made. The 62GS was Grand Seiko's first watch with automatic winding, and High-Intensity Titanium keeps this version light and resistant to scratches.
