Grand Seiko designed it to look exactly like its calibre 9S67 models, minus the power reserve indicator, with the 9S65 movement inside instead. That calibre uses Grand Seiko's newer hairspring technology and an escapement made with MEMS manufacturing, both aimed at keeping the rate accurate and steady on the wrist. Zaratsu-polished lugs and the box-shaped crystal give the case its clean, traditional profile, and a see-through case back shows the movement.
